The difference between an assessment and a consultation is, with an assessment, I identify problems. With a consultation, I provide solutions including personalized nutrition and exercise programs to fit your specific health, nutrition and exercise capabilities. An exercise program out of your capabilities is assured to end in disappointment, sore muscles or even injury. This is why when it comes to nutrition and exercise there really is no one way fits all.

My wife and I met Jimmy Duggans about 3 years ago. At the time, I was morbidly obese. Typing those words is still strange. Reasonably successful by most regards. Family life taking shape and healthy as I was moving home to make a life with the love of my life and her beautiful girls. Having always defined me by my work, my professional self was in check. But physically.....Years of not taking care of my body had me carrying around 65 lbs of fat, the negative self-talk that accompanies that, hypertension. The whole shouting match.

 

Into our lives walks Jimmy.  Having paid for a gym membership for more than a year before darkening the door and in utter dismay that my prompt monthly gym membership payment wasn't reducing my suit jacket size, I began showing up. Within a few weeks, I introduced myself to him and my wife, Lyndsay, and I hatched a plan to exercise with a professional. One of the best decisions we ever made.  In so doing, I reclaimed my life.

 

A few gems I took from the whole experience. One, if you don't work out with your spouse, you should. Seriously. Just do it. Everything gets better. Two, seek out guidance from someone who knows it, lives it, breathes it. Jimmy helped us change habits. Jimmy helped us engage in healthier routines. Showed us importance of rest and sound eating habits.

Lyndsay and I worked out with Jimmy for only a few months but what a lasting impression he left. We still exercise together twice a week, constantly challenging each other to be a better, stronger, more flexible, and simply a healthier version of ourselves. For that, I, we are eternally grateful.
